The Bible promises in 1 John 5:14-15, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” The way to pray the will of God is to pray the Word of God. Here is a list of prayers that I pray over my children on an almost daily basis. I have printed it into bookmark format and keep it in my Bible. This list grows often, so keep checking back. As you read the Word and the Lord leads you to certain Scriptures to pray over your children, add them to your list.
1. That they would come to know the Lord at an early age and that God would use them for His glory: 2 Peter 3:9 - "The Lord... not wishing any to perish but for all to come to repentance."
2. That they would have a passionate, love relationship with the Lord and desire to know His word: Ps 42:1-2 - "As the deer pants for water so may their soul pant for you, O God, may their soul thirst for the living God."
3. That they would grow "in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." (Luke 2:52 / 1 Samuel 2:26)
4. That they would be healthy Jer 30:17 - "For I will restore you to health and heal you of your wounds declares the Lord."
5. That they would stay pure in their body and mind, and that they would be protected spiritually and physically from all harm and attack. 2Thess 3:2-3,5 “They would be delivered from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect them from the evil one. May the Lord direct their hearts into the Love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.”
6. 1 Tim 1:5 “They would receive instruction in love, from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
7. Ps. 86:11 “Teach them your way, O Lord; To walk in your truths; Give them an undivided heart so that they may fear your name.”
8. Ps 1:1-3 “They would not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. But their delight would be in the Law of the Lord. They would meditate in your law day and night. They would be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither and in whatever they do would prosper.”
9. Ps. 90:14,16-17 “O satisfy them in the morning with Thy loving kindness, That they may sing for joy and be glad all their days. Let Thy work appear to Thy servants, and Thy majesty to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon them and do confirm for them the work of their hands.”
10. Col 3:15-17 “ And let the peace of Christ rule in their hearts, to which indeed they were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in them richly. . . with thankfulness in their hearts to God. And whatever they do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
